February ECO-Safari Feedback 

The first of our 2011 ECO-Safaris surpassed all of our expectations. This is a unique opportunity offered by African Horseback Safaris in collaboration with ecologists Christiaan and Hanlie Winterbach where guests help monitor wildlife in the Delta as part of our effort to ensure that it stays one of the most pristine wildernesses in the world.

Masses of birds and animals were photographed and recorded, the company was great and monitoring the delta has never been this much fun. The horses proved very valuable in getting to the hard to reach areas like islands and floodplains but the highlight of the safari was the exceptional footage we got from the infrared camera trap.

This adult male Leopard (named Nimrod by our ECO-team) was recorded on an impala kill with the camera trap.
